The Tri-County Regional Energy Network (3C-REN) is a partnership between the Counties of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura.

For households, 3C-REN offers direct energy-saving opportunities, with an emphasis on hard-to-reach and underserved communities. For industry, 3C-REN offers capacity-building services including workforce training and technical code support. Serving both public and private sector professionals, 3C-REN responds to the needs of the local building industry. Together, 3C-REN programs take a holistic approach to improve energy efficiency and develop workforce in the Tri-County region. These efforts reduce energy use, strengthen local job markets and support climate goals.

Higher Performance Building on the Central Coast - All-Electric Construction, Part 1: Heat Pumps for Heating & Cooling
May 10th @ 12:00 pm

Gain clarity and expertise on today’s higher-performance all-electric construction. Part 1 of our two-part series will focus on heat pumps for space conditioning. Topics will include why heat pumps are quickly becoming the preferred system for heating and cooling, how they work, design considerations, sticking points, and solutions, as well as cost variables. Emphasis will be on residential, multi-family, and small commercial on the Central Coast or similar climates.

Learning Objectives:

  • Be able to explain the benefits of heat pump systems including health, cost, and code compliance.
  • Understand the components and delivery options for heat pumps in your project.
  •  Understand the integration of ventilation and indoor air quality with heat pump design.
  •  Be able to evaluate potential construction constraints and pitfalls and provide solutions.
