Advocacy Committee: The Advocacy Committee promotes awareness and the adoption of green building and sustainability ordinances, and advises public officials on legislation on a local, regional, and/or state level. This includes advancing social equity by supporting community initiatives that actively encourage diversity and help bring benefits of sustainability to all members of the community. Communications & Outreach:The Communications & Outreach Committee promotes the chapter through informative communications that educate and activate the public. This committee is essential to the Chapter’s growth and influence, as even the highest-quality programs are not effective until people know about them and are inspired to attend. This is accomplished through chapter publications, media coverage, promotion of upcoming events, and ensuring branding continuity easily recognized by the public. Education & Events Committee: The Education Committee provides diverse opportunities for training and education on green building, sustainability, and LEED® to chapter members and the public. Depending on the public interest and knowledge level, topics can range from introductory to in-depth and more technical topics such as LEED categories, financing, construction strategies, and broader sustainability issues. Green Awards Committee: During times when the Green Awards are being planned, every 2 years, this committee leads the Board of Directors in creating the program for the Green Awards as well as the Green Gala celebration. This involves event planning, coordination with local firms, marketing the awards, and co-creating an incredible Gala. Green Schools Committee: The Green Schools Committee provides a forum for collaboration and outreach within the green building schools market. The committee reaches out to contractors, architects, parent organizations, students, public officials, and other relevant stakeholders in this market. The Committee’s role is to increase awareness of green building in schools and foster knowledge of the LEED® for Schools rating system, and integration with other local schools rating system. Emerging Green Professionals: The Emerging Green Builders exists to engage young professionals just starting a career in sustainability and facilitate the transition from student to young professional to chapter leader. Rather than acting as a committee focusing on specific activities, the EGP is more of a self-organized group of young professionals, and others just new to the green building. EGP group plans their own events and activities designed for education and networking opportunities for young professionals to meet peers with similar passions and connect with mentors during the transition after graduation. EGP is the future that can fulfill National’s goal of “sustainability within a generation.” Fundraising / Sponsorship Committee: This committee includes the VP of Finance and possibly the Strategic Partners Director. It serves the function of finding creative ways to fundraise for the organization and leading those efforts. Diversity & Inclusion Committee: The Diversity & Inclusion committee prioritizes creating opportunities for the CCGBC to be of service to the underserved and vulnerable populations within our community. This committee leads volunteer efforts such as organizing build days with organizations, offering free sustainable design consulting services, and ultimately researching and asking the community members what they want to see from the CCGBC and learning how we can be supportive. This committee focuses on our Board of Directors and the inner organization around diversity, equity, and inclusion practices – learning how to adapt our organization as a whole to become more inviting and equitable place where anyone can thrive within their own leadership on the board. Strategic Planning Committee: The mission of the Strategic Partnership committee is to establish meaningful and productive relationships with other professional, trade, academic and community organizations in our region that share a vision for a greener and more sustainable future. We leverage the energy, expertise and resources of our membership to identify and participate in projects, advocacy and outreach that result in measurable and visible positive changes in our communities |
